A Scioto County Grand Jury has indicted James Charles, 36, of Portsmouth, on a long list of charges stemming from a September incident that allegedly turned violent.
Charles faces ten counts, including Felonious Assault, Assault, Resisting Arrest, Obstructing Official Business, Disrupting Public Services, Domestic Violence, Aggravated Possession of Drugs, two counts of Possession of Drugs, Possessing Drug Abuse Instruments, and Illegal Use or Possession of Drug Paraphernalia.
According to the indictment, on September 5, Charles knowingly caused physical harm to a police officer while the officer was performing official duties, then resisted arrest. He’s also accused of obstructing official business and disrupting public services during the confrontation.
In addition, prosecutors say Charles committed domestic violence and was in possession of drugs and drug abuse instruments at the time of the incident.
The court has issued a summons for Charles, and he’s scheduled to appear for arraignment on December 10.
