Jail walls weren’t enough to stop Tray Banks’ crime spree.
The 32-year-old Portsmouth man, already facing serious charges for domestic violence and assaulting a police officer, has now racked up even more felony charges—all from inside the Scioto County Jail.
Back in February, Banks was arrested after a child ran to a neighbor’s house saying her mother’s boyfriend was hitting her, pushing her down, and waving a gun. Officers responded, detained Banks, and confiscated a firearm.
He was booked on a stack of charges, including:
- Domestic Threat
- Aggravated Menacing
- Brandishing a Weapon
- Having Weapons While Under Disability
- Being a Fugitive from Justice (Tennessee wants him too)
While awaiting trial on those charges, things got even worse.
🔒 Crimes Behind Bars
According to prosecutors, Banks assaulted not one—but two people— while locked up in the Scioto County Jail:
- On May 20, he allegedly committed Aggravated Robbery and Felonious Assault—likely against a fellow inmate.
- Then on June 25, Banks reportedly seriously injured a correctional officer, leading to two more Felonious Assault charges and an additional Assault charge.
🧠 Sanity Hearing Pending
His court proceedings have been paused pending a sanity hearing scheduled for August 1st. In the meantime, Banks remains in custody and now faces a grand total of three separate felony indictments from just this year alone.
With a history of violence, a cross-state warrant, and now assaults inside jail, one thing’s clear: Tray Banks may be locked up, but his rap sheet is still growing.
