Richard N. “Dick” Henderson II, 82, of Waverly, Ohio went to be with his Lord and Savior on October 15, 2025.
He was the son of the late Richard N. and Sarah Genevieve “Granny” Henderson. He was born in Henderson, Kentucky on July 27, 1943. He married his love, Linda Sue Morrison of Wheelersburg, Ohio on May 20, 1977 in Portsmouth, Ohio. He loved his Linda Sue and family with all his heart. He loved talking with people and telling them about Jesus. He never met a stranger and his favorite saying when asked how he was, he would say, “Blessed every day!”
Surviving are his wife, Linda; two sons, Richard N. “Rich” Henderson III and wife Betsy of Waverly and Paul E. Henderson and wife Etta of Waverly; daughter, Tammy L. Henderson Phillips of Fort White, Florida; six grandchildren, Linda Jo, Mikie, Jake and fiancé Abby, Joe and wife Keelie, Mandi and Sarah; seven great-grandchildren, Ella, Ethan, Harmony, Joshua, Landon, Lilly and Lyric; sister, Jeanie Robinson of Waverly; brother, Charlie Henderson of Chillicothe; and brothers-in-law, Mike Kelly and wife Barb of Waverly and Ralph Letsche and wife Debbie of Chillicothe. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by siblings, Pat Letsche, Sherry Kelly and Bill Henderson and his brother-in-law, Daniel “Big Dog” Robinson.
Dick graduated from Southeastern Business College with a degree in Business Administration, Accounting Diploma; Silver Lake College with a degree in Business Management. He graduated from Officer Candidate School, Fort Hayes, Columbus commissioned as a 2nd Lieutenant in the United States Army Reserve serving 11 years in various positions. He worked in industry for 45 years serving in various management positions from line management to director of operations. His greatest love was working for his Lord. He attended Tri-State Bible College in South Point, Ohio and was an ordained Southern Baptist Minister who served the Lord as Pastor and Associate Pastor of churches in Ironton, Ohio, Wheelersburg, Ohio, Frankfort, Ohio and Manitowoc, WI; Assistant to the Pastor/ Secretary of Calvary Baptist Church in Piketon, Ohio. He loved to teach God’s Word and served as Sunday School Director and teacher in several churches.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Monday, October 20, 2025 at Calvary Baptist Church with Pastor Jon Black officiating. Burial will follow in Sunset Memorial Garden in Franklin Furnace, Ohio. The family will receive friends from 4:00 p.m. – 6:00 p.m. on Sunday, October 19, 2025 at Calvary Baptist Church and for one hour prior to the service at the church on Monday.
