Roy Acel Dixon, 78, of Franklin Furnace, Ohio, passed away Sunday, May 25, 2025 at King’s Daughters Medical Center.
The son of Leonard and Edith (Stone) Dixon, Roy was born November 12, 1946 in Portsmouth, Ohio.
After serving in the Air Force during the Vietnam War, Roy began his career at Aristech Chemical and retired after 35 years there. He married Jean Wellman on June 11, 1977 and spent 47 wonderful years of life together.
Roy loved the outdoors. His love of fishing and hunting started early and he shared that passion with his family. He fondly talked about his fishing trips and deer hunts. He loved entertaining friends and family around the pool and his memorable annual Fish Fry. Roy enjoyed traveling, the beach, and sports.
He is survived by his loving wife Jean Dixon of Ironton; son Brian (Jess) Dixon of Independence, KY and son Jeff (Jessica) Dixon of Wheelersburg, OH; grandchildren Jax, Duke, Bo, Acel, and Ellie; sister-in-law Janie Dixon of Butler; nephew Leonard (Amanda) Dixon of Monroeville, OH and niece Glenda (Alan) Kitzmiller of Bellville, OH; great nieces Ashley (Andy) Kniceley, Kayla (Matt) Tackett, and Abbey Kitzmiller; great nephews Derek (Andrea) Dixon, and Michael Prendergast; great nephews Caleb, Cayden, Jackson, Bentley, Thomas, and Miles; great nieces Peyton and Izabella.
Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother Robert Glen Dixon.
The Dixon family will receive friends on Friday, May 30, 2025 from 6-8 pm and Saturday, May 31, 2025 from 10-11am at the Harrison-Pyles Funeral Home, 11623 Gallia Pike, Wheelersburg, OH 45694. Funeral services will begin at 11 am on Saturday, May 31, 2025. Burial will follow at Haverhill Cemetery.
