Sally Darlene Simmering, 79, of Rubyville passed away Sunday, December 3, 2023, at her home. She was born August 15, 1944, in Portsmouth to the late Roy and Cynthia Myrtle (Sloas) NewKirk.
Sally loved to play video games, her favorite was Animal Crossing. She also enjoyed watching television. Sally knitted and crocheted. She loved cooking for her family, especially baking pies. She was a storyteller and loved to tell about things that she had seen and had happened over the years of her life. When she was young she loved to go to the corner store her dad owned.
Sally is survived by a son, Freddie Simmering his and wife Amber of Portsmouth; two daughters, Miriam Jean Simmering of Athens and Cynthia Book and husband Jeff of Portsmouth; six grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
She was also preceded in death by her husband whom she married in 1960, Freddie Simmering. Cremation services have been entrusted to D.W. SWICK FUNERAL HOME in South Webster. Online condolences may be left at www.DWSwickFuneralHome.com.
