Shirley Kitchen Arnett, 84 of West Portsmouth, died Friday, December 4, 2020, at Rosemount Pavilion. She was born May 12, 1936, in West Portsmouth to the late Norman and Lona Adkins Kitchen, Sr. Along with her parents, Shirley was preceded in death by her husband, Paul Arnett who she married on November 25, 1954, 2 brothers; Norman Kitchen Jr. and Alva Kitchen, 4 sisters; Penny Miller, Cleo Bostick, Dorothy DeHart, and Frances Kitchen.
Shirley loved people. She was the owner and operator of Hills Florist in West Portsmouth for 34 years. She was a member of the Northwest Regional Water Board for 23 years, she was also a volunteer for the Cancer Society. She was a former Brownie Leader and cheerleading advisor at Dry Run School.
Shirley is survived by a son, Phillip “Tony” (Carolyn) Arnett and a daughter Paula (Butch) Rose. She was the Best Mamaw in the World to her 2 granddaughters; Heather Runions and Heidi Berry and 2 grandsons; Adam Arnett and Bryson Arnett, along with 2 great-grandchildren; Hayden Runions and Brayden Berry. Shirley is also survived by a sister, Janet (Howard) Weghorst, 2 sisters-in-law: Pat Payne and Mary Arnett, along with several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be 1:00 PM Thursday, December 17, 2020, at the Roger W. Davis Funeral Home in West Portsmouth with Rick Ratliff officiating and interment in Scioto Burial Park. Friends may call at the funeral home from 5 to 8:00 PM on Wednesday and one hour prior to the service on Thursday. Masks will be required, and social distancing will be practiced.
