Two sisters contacted officers to say a crooked plumber made off with $42,00 in insurance money.
The first sister came into the police station to say that they’d contacted the man back in January of last year for an estimate on a busted waterline. She said she hired him to do the job, but they started the work and never finished.
She said the insurance company initially cut checks totaling $42,000 to pay for pipes and a new heat pump. She said the South Point plumber gave her a signed receipt but failed to do the work, forcing her to hire another contractor to complete the work.
The other sister said she’d hired the same Coal Grove plumber in December of 2022 to build a bathroom addition onto her home for $27,000 and paid him $12,00 to start.
She said the job was supposed to be done in 8 weeks, and it was still not finished. She said the plumber told her more money would be needed to finish the job and that he had pressured her to pay additional costs but had never completed the work.
Officers took information for a report.
