Sue Johnson, beloved daughter, sister, and friend, passed away peacefully on February 16, 2025, at the age of 76. Born on August 22, 1948, in Portsmouth, Ohio, Sue was the proud daughter of Walter and Rosalie Johnson, and sister to Walter Jr. She dedicated her life to her family, friends, and her work, leaving a lasting impact on all who knew her.
Sue’s educational journey led her to a career in accounting and medical billing, where she worked for several well-known businesses in the Portsmouth area, including Williams Shoe Factory, Marting’s, Coca-Cola Corporation of Ironton, and Hillview Retirement Community. Her meticulous nature and warm demeanor made her a cherished colleague and a trusted confidante.
Sue was preceded in death by her father, Walter Johnson Sr., and nieces: Brandi, Lori, and Beth Ann Johnson.
A lifelong lover of literature and film, Sue found joy in exploring historical novels and science fiction. She often spent her free time engrossed in bookshops or sharing the latest movie releases with loved ones. A faithful member of the Methodist Church, she was baptized in the 1960s, a milestone that reflected her deep-rooted values and sense of community.
Sue is survived by her loving mother Rosalie (Nee Burton) Johnson, and her brother and sister in law, Walter and Nancy Johnson Jr. of South Shore, KY; nephew, Shane Henderson of Columbus, Aunt Thelma Wallace of Livonia, MI, Aunt Polly Cole of Portsmouth, and cousin Rick (Pam) Smith of Portsmouth, and many other family and friends. Her kindness, intelligence, and humor will be profoundly missed.
Visitation will be Monday, February 24, 2025, 12:00 NOON to 1:00 PM.
Funeral services will be held at 1:00 PM, at FC Daehler Mortuary, 915 Ninth Street, Portsmouth, OH 45662. Burial immediately following at Scioto Burial Park, McDermott.
