Virginia B. Jackson Hosey, 95, of Portsmouth, passed away Saturday, January 8, 2022, at the SOMC Hospice Center surrounded by her family. She was born December 25, 1926, in Grantsville, WV, the daughter of the late Jesse Andrews and Mildred Marshall Jackson IV.
A member of the former Manly United Methodist Church, Virginia was formerly a member of the SOMC Pleasure Guild, she was an SOMC volunteer and Boy and Girl Scout volunteer. She was a 1945 graduate of Calhoun County (WV) High School.
Virginia married Donald Wade Hosey on October 4, 1947, in Grantsville and he preceded her in death on July 8, 2011.
Surviving are three children, Donald Jackson (Sonya) Hosey of Warrenton, VA, Teresa Bratton and Priscilla (Bob) Hunt, of Portsmouth; five grandchildren, Bobby (Nelia) Hunt, Ryan (Annie Lane) Bratton, Daniel “Boone” (Donna) Hosey, Andy (Serena) Hosey and Ladd (Carissa) Dunham; eight great-grandchildren, Ashton Hunt, Christian, and Chase Hudson, Bodhi, Nolan, and Ellis Hosey, and Tristan and Xander Dunham; and one great-great-grandson, Christian “CJ” Hudson Jr.
Virginia was also preceded in death by her grandson, Michael Andrew Bratton; and three siblings, Robert Jackson, Jesse Andrews Jackson V and Gwendolyn Jackson.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday at 5 P.M. at the Ralph F. Scott Funeral Home in Portsmouth with Pastor Rick Clark officiating.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home one hour prior to services.
Graveside services will be held at 1 P.M. Thursday at Betts Cemetery in Grantsville.
