A dramatic arrest unfolded Tuesday evening after Scioto County Sheriff’s Deputies sprang into action to catch a wanted man with a nationwide extradition warrant — all while a terrified woman begged dispatchers for help.
A Frantic Call for Help
The situation began around 4:45 p.m. when a caller reported that the fugitive was traveling in a car with a woman and would likely bolt the moment he saw law enforcement.
Then came the chilling update from 911:
“Female sounded terrified… she had to use her mother’s house phone. She said the man believed her cellphone was tapped and didn’t allow her to have it.”
Dispatch warned deputies that the suspect would try to flee as soon as officers attempted a stop.
Deputies Set the Trap
Sheriff’s deputies positioned themselves near Doc Singleton Park after witnesses reported the vehicle leaving Rarden and traveling through Otway. Just before 5:23 p.m., deputies spotted the car near Family Dollar and moved in to make the stop.
Fight Breaks Out — Taser Deployed
Officers reported that the man resisted and put up a fight, forcing deputies to deploy a taser. In the chaos, both the suspect and a deputy were struck.
Two ambulances were immediately dispatched to treat injuries from the taser deployment.
Deputies also reported the man was carrying drugs at the time of arrest.
Fugitive Taken Into Custody
Deputies arrested Daniel Brown on the following charges:
- Parole Violation (nationwide extradition warrant)
- Obstructing Official Business
- Resisting Arrest
He was booked into the Scioto County Jail shortly after.
A Terrifying Ordeal Averted
Authorities credited the frightened woman, whose quick thinking and quiet cooperation allowed deputies to intercept the vehicle before the situation escalated further.
Her willingness to call for help — even without her cellphone and under fear of retaliation — may have saved lives.
