Scioto County Sheriff’s Deputies arrested Jerry Safarik on a domestic violence charge after responding to a Wheelersburg home just after 9 p.m.
Safarik was booked into the Scioto County Jail and later appeared in Portsmouth Municipal Court, where a judge issued a temporary protection order for the alleged victim. Safarik was then released on his own recognizance.
The court declared him indigent, waived the $25 public defender application fee, and appointed him legal counsel. He is scheduled to return to court for a pre-trial hearing on September 30.
