Officers responded to what could have been a potentially deadly domestic violence situation. When deputies went to check on a 9-1-1 hang-up call, they discovered a visibly shaken woman with a busted lip who was bleeding from her mouth. They asked where the other half of the altercation was, and the woman said he was in the back bedroom.
When Lawrence County Sheriff’s Deputies went to check, they detained a male suspect and also found a gun and bullets lying on the bedroom floor. The woman told officers the man hit her after an argument and took her phone. That’s when she went looking for her gun, but he took it away from her and disassembled it.
Officers took pictures and information for a report and gave the woman information about help for domestic violence victims. Police impounded the weapon as evidence.
