A woman facing child support charges avoided jail because of COVID restrictions.
Just after 7 am, a Charles Street caller reported there was someone in her bedroom who refused to leave.
When officers arrived on the scene, they discovered a woman with an open child support warrant from Lorain County and took her into custody.
However, Lorain County said that due to COVID protocols, they would not extradite individuals for child support warrants.
PPD was forced to release the woman. She agreed to make arrangements to gather her things and leave the home voluntarily.
Suspicious Activity
Officers responded to multiple reports of suspicious activity overnight.
Police were called back to a Thomas Avenue address three times for reports of loud music starting around 1 am. They advised the residents to keep it down and said they would cite them if they had to come back.
At 2 am, a citizen flagged down an officer to report a man overdosing at the corner of Gallia and Kendall. An officer spoke with the man, who said he was fine.
Officers once again dealt with someone loitering near the ATM at the PNC Bank on Gallia. Just after 4 am, police advised the man to leave, and he did.
