A woman wanted on a court warrant was taken into custody in Wheelersburg after deputies located her at Arby’s and discovered several children were with her.
Just before 7 p.m., Scioto County Sheriff’s deputies stopped a vehicle at the restaurant after learning a wanted person with a caution that she could be armed and dangerous might be inside.
When deputies made contact with the woman, they requested an ambulance to respond to the scene.
Multiple children were also present during the stop.
Rather than leaving the children at the scene, deputies contacted a grandmother, who arrived and took custody of them.
🚑 Hospital Stop Before Jail
According to the report, a deputy followed the ambulance transporting the woman to Southern Ohio Medical Center.
After she was medically cleared, she was released back into law enforcement custody.
Deputies then transported her to the Scioto County Jail, where she was booked shortly after midnight on a charge of contempt of court.

Contempt of court charges often stem from someone failing to comply with a court order.
That can include:
- Missing court appearances
- Failing to follow conditions imposed by a judge
- Ignoring court directives
- Violating requirements connected to an ongoing case

👀 Deputies Often Have to Think About More Than the Arrest
When arrests involve children, officers frequently have to make immediate arrangements to ensure the children are safe before taking an adult into custody.
That can involve:
- Contacting relatives
- Working with Children’s Services
- Arranging emergency placements
- Or finding another responsible adult to care for the children
In this case, deputies were able to reach a family member who stepped in to take care of the children while the arrest was completed.
