It’s been a rough week in the fight against COVID-19 in Scioto County. According to numbers from local Health Departments, there have been 49 cases diagnosed in just the past week.
The latest numbers from Scioto County EMA Director Larry Mullins show 8 new positive cases for today. That brings the total number of cases since spring to 275. Mullins said 64 of those cases are active. Fortunately, 209 people have recovered.

Earlier in the week, the Scioto County Health Department announced an outbreak at the Best Care nursing home in Wheelersburg. Health Commissioner Dr. Michael Martin said that both faculty and staff were affected.
Scioto County ranked 21 out of 88 counties for the highest occurrence of new COVID-19 cases in the last two weeks with 78 new cases.
Statewide, numbers stand at:
- 1,131 – new cases today
- 17,869 – presumed active cases
- 106, 557 – total cases
- 3,784 – deaths
- 84,904 – recovered
