Scioto County deputies arrested a man after a Porter Township call involving alleged drug use, threats, a possible gun, and a domestic dispute.
Deputies were called after a woman reported that her friend’s child’s father was allegedly on drugs and headed to the friend’s home to harm her.
A second caller then reported that the man had pulled into a driveway in a silver car and might have a gun.
The caller later said the man had left the residence and was traveling on Dogwood Ridge Road. Deputies advised the caller not to keep following him.
Deputies located the man at Wolford’s Landing, where another person had him blocked in with a vehicle.
According to the sheriff’s log, the man gave deputies consent to search his vehicle for a gun. Deputies said they did not locate one.
While one deputy stood by with the man, another went to Concord Drive to speak with the woman involved.
After speaking with her, deputies requested that the man be detained.
Deputies took John Holbrook into custody and secured his vehicle at a campsite at Wolford’s Landing.
Holbrook was booked into the Scioto County Jail on charges of domestic violence and aggravated menacing.
He later appeared in Portsmouth Municipal Court, where a temporary protection order was issued against him. He was released on his own recognizance, and a pretrial hearing was set for Sept. 29.
The charges are allegations. Holbrook is presumed innocent unless proven guilty in court.
