False Alarms
A series of alarm mishaps kept officers busy. It started at 8:28 am when an SOS alarm sounded from the Counseling Center. It turned out they were testing the alarm.
At 9:22 am, a residential SOS alarm sounded at a Grant Street home. Officers discovered a real estate agent showing the home to a potential buyer tripped the alarm.
Ten minutes later, the basement alarm at the American Legion on Gallia sounded. An officer checked the scene and said everything appeared secure and there was no sign of forced entry. The officer spotted a vehicle on the lot, however, it was registered to the alarm company.
Hey, That’s My Stuff!
At 10 am, a Wayne Avenue resident reported $300 stolen from her purse while she was in the hospital.
An out-of-town man contacted police at 11:30 am to report that people living on Winchester Avenue had used his identity to hook up utilities. When police arrived at the scene, they discovered the house was vacant and belonged to the county. The officer said they would investigate further.
Hooker Stays Put Until She Gets Paid
Officers answered a call to a 16th Street apartment for a dispute between an alleged prostitute and her client.
According to the apartment manager, the woman refused to get out of her ‘John’s’ vehicle until he paid her $25. By the time police arrived, she had left the vehicle.
The alleged customer said the woman ripped his shirt, but he did not want to file any charges.
Boyfriend Pulls Shotgun To Stop Ex From Leaving
A frightening domestic incident was reported on the Scioto Trail. A woman said she argued with her boyfriend and told him she was leaving.
He then pulled a shotgun on her and a friend. She left the scene and called officers to report the incident. She said her 16-month-old was still in the house with the man and the baby’s grandmother, and she wanted an escort to pick the child up.
Police took the man into custody and contacted CPS. An officer took the man to the hospital for unspecified reasons.
