Portsmouth Police Officers assisted CPS personnel with a home check after a disturbing report to the agency of child abuse.
A caller said adults in the home were using drugs in front of children, kept a loaded gun out on a table, and were abusing a 6-month-old baby as well as allowing other children to harm the baby.
Portsmouth Officers accompanied the CPS worker on the home interview.
CPS Seeks Missing Mom
Scioto County CPS asked the Sheriff’s Office to conduct a welfare check on a mom and child they’ve been working with on a drug abuse complaint. They feared the mom had skipped town with the child and said there was a missing person’s report filed on the mother in Portsmouth.
An officer was able to track down the mother and child and observe them at SOMC. They said everyone appeared fine. The SCSO updated PPD on the woman’s whereabouts.
