Rick Carver Sr., 64, of Lucasville, died on August 11, 2024, at SOMC Hospice. He was born March 21, 1960, in Portsmouth to the late Stoney Robert and Patricia Williams Carver. Along with his parents, he is preceded in death by his wife, Penny Puckett Carver, a son, Nicholas Robert Carver, and a brother, Stoney Robert Carver Jr.
Rick graduated from Northwest High School and was a member of the Iron Workers Local #3 of Pittsburgh. He was strong-minded and tried to master things by saying, “If you are going to do something, be the best.” He loved softball, shooting pool, hunting, fishing, coaching youth sports, and racing. He demanded the best from himself and expected the same from others.
He is survived by his sons, Ricky R. (Shena) Carver Jr., Shawn (Sierra) Puckett, and Mark Cox. 2 daughters, Julia (Robert) Carver Vallandingham, and Kylee (Corey) Lepore, 6 grandchildren, Cheyenne Weakley, Baylee Cox, Jacob Hendricks, Caydon Carver, Bo and Morgan Vallandingham, 3 great-grandchildren, Vincent Reynolds, Dominic Reynolds, and Tilly Vallandingham, 2 brothers, Kenneth Wayne Carver, Harry Lee Carver, and a sister, Kay (Dave) Cyrus.
Funeral services will be at 1:00 PM on Saturday, August 17, 2024, at the Roger W. Davis Funeral Home in West Portsmouth, with Charlie Montgomery and Marvin Carver officiating. Visitation will be on Saturday starting at 11 AM. Condolences may be sent to www.rogerwdavisfuneralhome.com
