From burglaries to medical emergencies, Sunday was anything but quiet for Scioto County’s emergency services. Deputies, EMTs, and firefighters responded to a packed list of incidents across the region — everything from alarm drops and animal complaints to car crashes and crimes in progress.
While the Scioto County Sheriff’s Office decided to stop providing detailed call logs to Scioto County Daily News in early 2025, we’re committed to keeping you informed with every bit of data available. Here’s a breakdown of what went down on June 1:
🚨 CRIME & LAW ENFORCEMENT CALLS
Burglaries:
- Dollar General, Brouses Run Road: Deputies took a report of a break-in early Sunday morning.
- Westgate Road, Minford area: A later burglary prompted another investigation and report.
Theft and Assaults:
- Holiday Point Marina: A theft-in-progress led to an arrest around lunchtime.
- Quality Inn, Old Scioto Trail: Deputies responded to two separate calls — one for a stolen vehicle and another for theft.
- Scioto County Jail: An assault occurred behind bars, with a report filed.
- SpeedeeMart/Sunoco, Center Street: Deputies arrested a suspect for public intoxication.
Vehicle-Related Crimes:
- Quality Inn, Old Scioto Trail: Stolen vehicle reported.
- Greenup Dam: A stolen vehicle was recovered later in the day.
Other Incidents:
- AutoZone, Wheelersburg: Deputies advised after an investigation complaint.
- Lowes, Ohio River Road: A threats or harassment complaint was logged.
- Green Street: A domestic complaint was resolved and closed.
- Sherman Street: A mental health crisis call required multiple units.
🚑 EMS & FIRE RESPONSE HIGHLIGHTS
Medical Emergencies:
EMS was busy with at least 15 emergency squad transports across the county, including:
- Whitley Lane, McDermott Pond Creek Road, Washington Blvd N, Big Spruce Little Bear Creek Rd, Gervais Road, Napoleon Lane, Orchard Drive, and several assisted living centers like Rosemount Pavilion and SOMC Urgent Care.
- Multiple locations resulted in no transport needed, while a few were handled by other jurisdictions.
Injury Accidents:
- State Route 139 and US Highway 23: Two separate wrecks led to injury responses.
- Toro Loco, Ohio River Road: An EMS call here didn’t result in a transport.
Fire Calls:
- A structure fire was reported near State Route 73. Units responded and marked it complete.
🔔 ALARMINGLY BUSY — LITERALLY
False Alarms Everywhere:
Deputies responded to at least seven alarm drops at various businesses and homes including:
- Pepsi Cola Warehouse (three separate times!)
- Big Sandy, Gallia Pike
- Chamberlin Road, Lick Run Lyra Road, Careys Run-Pond Creek Road, and Glenn Court.
Nearly all turned out to be false alarms or were canceled en route.
🐾 ODDS & ENDS
- Animal Complaint: Someone called in a concern at the Stoney Creek Apartments on State Route 104.
- Neighbor Disputes: Four complaints were logged across Oakwood Avenue, Hammerstein Road, Beekman Road, and Pollock Road.
- Patrol & Public Presence: Units were spotted on patrol around Hulet Street, Barker Street, and Franklin Furnace.
- Parade Detail: Deputies were on escort duty at Holiday Point Marina.
