Scioto County Sheriff’s Deputies responded to a bizarre situation on Warren Avenue in West Portsmouth in the middle of the night.
Just after 2 am, a caller reported a screaming woman on their front porch who was trying to get into the home.
Officers discovered the woman on the porch had broken a window attempting to get into the house and cut her hand. They described the woman as incoherent and confused.
Deputies sent for an ambulance. The agitated woman said her house was on fire, so a deputy went to her home to check it out. There was no fire in the home, but deputies did detect a lingering smoke smell. They speculated someone burned trash earlier.
The woman left her door open, so a deputy re-secured the door. An ambulance transported the woman to SOMC.
