Robert “Bob” Lee Culver, beloved husband, father, and grandfather went to his heavenly home March 6, 2026. He was born on March 7, 1944, in Baltimore, Maryland, to Alma (Tingler) Culver and James Culver.
Bob was preceded in death by his cherished wife, LaDonna Strehle Culver; his daughter, Sarah Lynn Culver; his parents, Alma and James Culver; his siblings, Larry, Carl, John, George Culver, and Mary Gast; his mother-in-law, Violet Strehle-Bartlett; his brothers-in-law, Patrick Clark, Keith Strehle, and Les Adkins; and his sister-in-law, Beverly Clark.
He is lovingly remembered by his daughters, Melinda (James) Gast, Jayne (Howard) Sherrett, and Sabrina (Jeff) Craycraft. Bob was a proud and devoted papaw to his grandchildren: James (Kim) Gast, Zachary Gast, Marisa Sherrett, Mackenzie (Cody) Newhouser, Mason Craycraft, Jacob (Elisa) Culver, and Dylan Culver. He was also blessed with great-grandchildren Aubree, Charli, William, Jayce, Ella, Nora, and Paisliegh and soon to arrive Oakland. Bob is further survived by his sister Janet (Larry) Twinam, brother Danny (Cathy) Culver, Sisters-in-Law Annette and Carolyn Culver, Kathy Adkins, and Dianne (Jim) Carr, many nieces and nephews, special friends, Barb and Amyha, and his beloved fur baby, Lil Bit.
Bob graduated from Wheelersburg High School in 1964. That same year, he married the love of his life, LaDonna Jane Strehle, and together they immediately began building their family.
Bob dedicated 32 years of his life working as a truck driver for Inland Products. Following his retirement, he continued his strong work ethic by serving another 15 years as a custodian for the Wheelersburg Local School District.
Bob’s greatest joy in life was his family, and he especially treasured his role as a papaw. He loved fishing and the outdoors, but he was most widely known for his generous spirit and willingness to help others. Bob had an extraordinary giving heart and was always ready to lend a hand, particularly to the elderly, often assisting with home repairs and projects. He could most often be found working proudly in his yard, a place that reflected his dedication and care. Bob took immense pride in his work ethic and lived his life as an example of kindness and generosity. He loved all children and delighted in finding ways to brighten the days of neighborhood kids with special treats and small gestures of joy.
Bob was an amazing husband, father, and grandfather who always put his family first. His warmth, humor, and loving presence will be deeply missed by all who were fortunate enough to know and love him. The family extends a special and heartfelt thank you to the staff of River Run Nursing Facility and Buckeye Hospice and Palliative Care for the love, care, and dignity they showed him in his final days.
We rejoice knowing he was reunited with his wife, daughter and family gone before him. In lieu of flowers, the family asks donations be made to Bob’s favorite organization St. Jude Hospital for Children, that he gave generously to over the years.
Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. on Thursday, March 12, 2026, at the Harrison-Pyles Funeral Home in Wheelersburg. Interment will be in Sunset Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends from 11 a.m. until the funeral hour on Thursday.
