It wasn’t just fries getting salty at Rally’s late Tuesday morning — it was a full-on confrontation that sent police searching the streets of Portsmouth.
Just before 11 a.m., officers were called to Rally’s after reports that a tattooed man, holding something in his hand, threatened the restaurant’s manager before strolling off toward Giovanni’s.
The manager gave chase (📸 snapping a quick photo for evidence) and last spotted the suspect near the Portsmouth Little Theater. The mystery man apparently ditched the item he was carrying into a storm drain, then vanished.
Police couldn’t locate him but gave the manager some firm advice: If he comes back — don’t chase him. Call us.
⚠️ What To Do If a Customer Threatens You:
- 📞 Call police immediately — your safety comes first.
- 🚷 Do NOT pursue — you don’t know if the person is armed or unstable.
- 📸 Document from a safe distance — photos, descriptions, and witness accounts help police.
- 🛑 Avoid confrontation — your job is to protect yourself and others, not play hero.
- 🧑🤝🧑 Have a safety plan — make sure all staff know what to do if things turn violent.
Because when a lunch shift turns into a crime scene, it’s better to be the one giving the police a statement — not needing them to save you.
