Anyone who regularly reads our reports should know that cameras are watching your every move at Walmart, but some folks just won’t learn that lesson and try to scam the store anyway.
Just after 10 pm, deputies were called to the South Point Walmart after a man security had caught on camera failing to scan items at the self-check out returned and tried it again. This time, he scanned a single 2-liter of Pepsi but skipped scanning eight 24-packs of Mountain Dew.
Security tried to stop him in the parking lot, but he took off. They managed to get his tag number, though.
Officers ran the tag number, then compared the driver’s license of the vehicle owner to security footage from the self-checkout and managed to identify the man. Officers forwarded the information to the Lawrence County Prosecutor’s Office to file charges.
