Chad Eric May, 50, of Wheelersburg, Ohio passed away peacefully on March 24, 2025, surrounded by his loving family.
Born on June 30, 1974, in Portsmouth, Ohio to the late William “Bill” May and Sue Ann May. Chad was a devoted husband, father, son, brother and friend. He was known for his kindness, humor, unwavering devotion to his family, and love for Wheelersburg football. Chad graduated from Wheelersburg High School in 1993. He was employed as an operations manager for Schwan’s Food Company for 24 years and then at the Portsmouth Gaseous Diffusion Plant as a work control planner for five years.
Chad was happiest when spending time with his family and friends, taking country back road drives, and coaching Wheelersburg football. His passion for his community and football was evident in his 25-year coaching career for the Wheelersburg Football Program. Known for his leadership, dedication, and the impact he had on countless young athletes, Coach May was more than just a coach — he was a source of encouragement for generations of players that extends far beyond the field. After Friday night football, you could find Chad worshipping as a faithful member of Cornerstone Church of the Nazarene on Sundays.
He is survived by his loving wife of 22 years, Mollie Cooper May whom he married October 19, 2002 in Huntington, West Virginia; his children, Nathan May and Peyton May; his mother Sue Arthur May; his siblings, Scott (Christi) May, Kim (Dan) Horner; his sister in law, Toby (Rick) Petty; his nieces and nephews, Kyle (Vanessa) Horner, Cassidy (Wade) Martin, Austin (Tori) May, Luke May, Chase Petty, six great nieces and nephews; and a host of extended family and friends who loved him dearly.
