We’ve told you recently about several alarming incidents involving kids and drugs in school, and officers and EMS investigated another troubling incident after a high schooler suffered a seizure in the cafeteria during lunch.
A Lawrence County Deputy responded to the scene and learned a student had started acting strangely, then fell over and passed out. EMS arrived on the scene to take the child to a hospital for treatment.
Due to recent incidents at the school, officials believed the child may have ingested an illegal substance during lunch. Surveillance footage showed the child doing into the boy’s room with another child right before the incident, so the child was called to the principal’s office to talk about what happened.
The other child admitted smoking a vape pen with the seizure victim but said they believed it only contained nicotine. They also learned other children had shared the vape pen, so they brought them in to check them for symptoms. However, since there was no evidence of any illegal substances, no charges were filed.
