Colin “Cork” Knappenberger, 80, of Wheelersburg, passed away February 2, 2022, at SOMC Hospice. He was born January 4, 1942, in Lyra, to the late Irvin and Leona (Wallace) Knappenberger. Cork served in the U.S. Army and was a member of the American Legon Post 325 in Manchester, Ohio, he was also a member of the Moose Lodge. Cork loved working on Antique Cars and doing body work.
Cork is survived by two daughters, Kim McGinnis and husband Tim of Ashland, KY., Becky Wicker and husband Mart of Lyra; a grandchild, Misty Lemon and husband Ross of South Webster; two nieces, Patty Smith and husband Bob of South Webster and Nita Knappenberger of Connecticut; five nephews, Bobby Knappenberger of Lyra, Barry Knappenberger and wife Gloria of Missouri, Dale Knappenberger and wife Bobbi of Alabama, Mark Knappenberger and wife Charlene of Lyra and Tim Knappenberger and wife Tammy of Lyra. He was also preceded in death by a son, Jimmy Knappenberger who passed away in 1963; a granddaughter, Erica Knappenberger; a brother, Bob Knappenberger; a sister, Ester Messer.
Funeral services will be held 11:00 a.m. Saturday, February 12, 2022, at D.W. SWICK FUNERAL HOME (WOLFE-NELSON CHAPEL) in Sciotoville with Dr. Thomas Davidson officiating. Interment will follow in Vernon Cemetery with Graveside Military Honors presented by the James Dickey Post #23 of the American Legion.
