The area’s overdose epidemic keeps local law enforcement and EMS personnel busy day and night. This weekend was no exception.
Deputies started off Friday morning with a report of an unresponsive man locked inside a running vehicle on Tick Ridge Road. The caller said she thought the man had left her house the night before, but woke up to find him passed out in his vehicle in front of her Tick Ridge Road Home.
Medics broke out the window of the vehicle to gain access to save the victim. They transported him to SOMC for treatment.
Also on Friday morning, EMS and officers responded to a report of an unresponsive person in an SUV at the pump at Speedway on Gallia Street. The man’s wife came to retrieve him shortly after officers arrived.
Just after midnight, medics and officers responded to a report of an overdose on Cockrell’s Run Road. Squads were able to treat the individual at the scene.
Officers responded to an overdose on Kent Street in Portsmouth, but the victim refused to give any information as to he was to medics and refused all medical treatment.
About two hours later, EMS headed to another overdose call on 8th Street. The man refused all medical treatment and said he was fine.
