1 Dad Dumps Baby at Friend’s House

A reluctant babysitter contacted police just before 4 pm to report an acquaintance had stopped by his house and left his one-year-old child, then said he’d be back in a little bit. However, the dad did not return.

The man was puzzled because he’d only seen the child twice before and had never been asked to babysit. Officers contacted the mother, who came to pick up the child.

2 Panhandler Pesters Dollar General Customers

Portsmouth’s ongoing panhandling problem prompted a call to the police just before 5 pm. Witnesses said a man in a brown jacket was hitting up customers for money in front of the Dollar General on Gallia.

5 Booming Music Blasts Barbershop

Officers responded to River & Rails Barbershop on 5th Street after the owner complained about noise coming from an upstairs apartment.

When police arrived on the scene, they heard very loud music coming from the apartment. Officers spoke with the resident and advised him to turn down the music. Police said he was not happy about the request but did comply and lowered the volume.

6 Officers Investigate Twitter Threats

A man stopped into the police department just before 5 pm to report he’d received threats from another man.

He told police the man had been coming to his apartment and didn’t care for the other people in the apartment. He showed officers screenshots of Tweets referencing beating people up and talking about a 9 mm bullet.

However, officers saw no direct threats from the man making the Tweet to the complainant. Police advised him of the process of filing a protection order.
