A frantic search is underway for Laura “Mikki” Elliott, a 48-year-old mother who vanished after walking away from a Portsmouth rehab facility. Her family hasn’t heard from her since July 11, and disturbing messages suggest she may have been in danger.
🧩 The Disappearance:
- Last seen: July 11, 2025
- Last contact: Texted daughter asking for food and money
- Missing report filed: July 28 by her daughter, Cheyanne Davis
- Physical description:
- White female
- 6 feet tall
- 197 pounds
🏥 Recovery Journey Turns Mysterious:
- Mikki had spent 9 months in a Portsmouth rehab working toward recovery
- She also struggled with mental health issues
- Left the facility and moved in with Stephen E. Richards at 475 Roberts Road, Liberty Township
🚩Red Flags and Chilling Warnings:
- After Mikki vanished, her daughter received alarming Facebook messages
- Several people warned that Richards might be dangerous
- Urged her to contact police immediately
- Mikki was officially entered into the NCIC as a missing person
🕵️♂️ The Investigation:
- Deputies interviewed Kathy Tilley, another resident at the Roberts Road home
- Tilley said Mikki left between July 9–10, upset over food assistance issues
- Stephen Richards, now in jail on unrelated charges, told officers:
- They argued on the morning of July 11
- Mikki packed her things and walked toward U.S. Route 35
- He tried to contact her on Facebook but got no response
