A woman contacted sheriff’s deputies to report someone had spent hundreds of dollars in her EBT food benefits.
She told officers she only leaves her home once a month to shop and should have had a $783 balance on her card. However, she said there was only $13 left and five transactions on the card she knew she hadn’t made.
She believed someone had hacked into her card. Officers learned of transactions at Ironton Food Fair, Ironton Save A Lot, and Family Dollar. They spoke to managers at the business and asked them to pull the video of the transactions.
Thief Goes Shopping With Stolen Credit Card
A crook went on a spending spree with a stolen credit card. A resident of Alexandria House contacted PPD just before noon to say someone had stolen his credit card the previous evening and had already used it twice that morning.
There were two purchases totaling $180 at the Marathon on the Scioto Trail and a $17 purchase at Maca Doo’s. The victim was able to positively identify the suspect from an old mugshot. Officers took information for a report.
