Fatal Tractor Accident on US 52
A tragic tractor accident on US 52 on Saturday evening.
Just after 7:38 pm, dispatch received a report of an accident. Deputies were dispatched to the scene, and dispatch contacted Portsmouth Ambulance. However, they had no crew available. Dispatch then contacted EMT Ohio, but they did not have a squad available.
Dispatch then tried to send a squad from Nile Township, but they were also out of service.
When deputies arrived on the scene, they learned that a man had gone over an embankment on a tractor and into the water. They believed the individual was deceased but wanted medics to confirm it. Dispatch paged Union FD to see if they had a squad available.
Deputies contacted the coroner, and an EMS squad was finally dispatched to the scene at 8 pm. They confirmed that the individual was indeed deceased. The coroner sent a transport to take possession of the deceased and transport him to Montgomery County.
The scene was finally cleared around 9:15 pm.
