Gary Dean Pelfrey, 80, of Franklin Furnace, Ohio passed away Wednesday, October 30, 2024. Gary fought a courageous 2 year battle with cancer that ultimately succumbed to the illness at King’s Daughters Medical Center. Throughout it all his faith in his Lord and Savior never wavered. His belief in God was first and foremost in his life and the love of his family – his joy.
Gary is survived by his wife, Sue of 54 years; daughter, Kesha Hart (Craig) of Shelby, Ohio; son, Brent Pelfrey of Ironton; grandson, Cayden Hart of Shelby; brother, Paul Pelfrey (Clara) of Wheelersburg, and several nieces and nephews.
Gary was a graduate of Wheelersburg High School and retired from AK Steel. He served in the Army Reserves and was a member of Franklin Furnace Independent Baptist Church.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Ralph and Lena Vickers Pelfrey; brother, Ronald Pelfrey, and sister, Jackie Mollett.
Funeral services will be conducted at 1:00 p.m. Friday, November 1, 2024 at Franklin Furnace Independent Baptist Church with Pastors Denny Hankins and Gary Arthurs officiating. Burial will be at Buckeye Cemetery in Franklin Furnace. Visitation will be from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. prior to the service at the church.
