Genia Renee Cunningham, 54, of Portsmouth, passed away Sunday, February 15, 2026, at Southern Ohio Medical Center.
Born September 15, 1971, in Cleveland, Ohio, she was a beloved daughter of the late Howard Gene and Jessie (Jones) Meade. Genia was a homemaker, whose life centered around family. She was happiest when she was hosting family get-togethers, and spending time with her precious granddaughter, Mackenzie.
Genia was a whimsical person, a collector of things that made her smile, especially anything Mickey Mouse themed, and sloths. She loved country music, live music events, festivals, and the Blue Ridge Mountains.
Genia is survived by her devoted partner of 22 years, John Ramey, her son, Douglas (Kristie) Cunningham of Portsmouth, her daughter Lillian (Tom) Caulder of Pennsylvania, 2 brothers, Gene (Sandra) of Cleveland, TN, Steve and his partner of California, sisters Karen (Joel) Pearon of Columbus, Ruth (Brian) of Clarktown, her cherished granddaughter, Mackenzie, and many uncles, aunts, cousins, nieces, nephews, and close friends.
In addition to her parents, Genia was preceded in death by her brother, James Meade, and a sister in infancy, Alice Jean.
Genia’s unwavering love for her family will live on in the hearts of all who were blessed to be a part of her life.
