A reported chicken attack led to an allegedly intoxicated neighbor pulling out a weapon. Officers got a call that an intoxicated neighbor had pulled out a gun during a dispute just before 4 pm. When they responded to the Oak Hill home, they heard all about the complicated situation.
The first neighbor said his chickens were in his neighbor’s yard when a dog belonging to her grandson killed one of them and chased the rest of the flock back across the road. He said he fired his gun into the air to scare the dog off. He said the neighbor’s grandson came across the road and confronted him.
He claimed the grandmother got involved in the fracas and said he shouldn’t hurt her grandson, but kill her instead because she didn’t have much longer to live. He said more people showed up, all of whom were intoxicated, and they were all brandishing guns. The neighbor showed officers a video of the incident.
When officers spoke to the neighbor, he had a different story. He said he was in his yard with his dog when the neighbor’s flock of chickens attacked the dog. He said his dog killed one of the birds and chased the flock back across the street. He said the neighbor shot his gun multiple times and threatened to shoot the dog. He said the neighbor pointed his gun at him and threatened to kill his grandmother.
Officers also spoke with the other men who’d arrived to assist the grandson. They said they never stepped foot on his property. Officers submitted the witness statement to the prosecutor’s office for review.
