Officers dealt with multiple issues of residents complaining about issues with Portsmouth’s ever-growing homeless population. Just after 11 pm, a Gallia Street caller said a woman was refusing to leave her property and was walking around in the yard.
An officer spoke to the woman, who said she would stay away and go to a homeless shelter for the night.
At 2 am, a Robinson Avenue caller complained that a man had pitched a tent on his property and wouldn’t leave. When officers arrived, they found the tent, but not the camper. Police moved the tent off the property.
At 3 am, the Four Keys Inn reported several people had set up camp under a tarp in an alley behind the hotel. The callers noted they’d left used toilet paper on the grass.
By the time officers arrived, they’d all left the scene.
