House Fire on Sedan Crabtree Road

The Morgan Township Fire Department responded to a report of a kitchen fire in the 1600 block of Sedan Crabtree Road. Firefighters arrived on the scene just after 3:30 am to find heavy smoke engulfing the residence.

Recognizing the need for additional resources, the firefighters requested a water tanker truck from Union Township to assist with battling the blaze. In an effort to ensure safety during the firefighting operation, they also contacted AEP to disconnect the power supply to the home.

The firefighters worked for approximately 90 minutes to bring the fire under control. Thankfully, the sole occupant of the house was unharmed. The Red Cross was notified to provide assistance to the individual.

As the Union Township firefighters were returning to their station, they encountered another obstacle on their path. A fallen tree and debris obstructed Rt 73, hindering traffic flow. Without hesitation, the firefighters promptly cleared the road, allowing for the safe passage of vehicles.

This incident serves as a reminder of the invaluable contributions of our volunteer firefighters throughout Scioto County. Their selfless dedication and swift response are vital in safeguarding our community.
