Lawrence County Officers responded to the cemetery on County Road 2100 for a report of a suspicious vehicle around 4 in the morning.
They found a running vehicle with someone asleep inside, and it took several knocks on the window to wake them up. Officers observed a bag of pot and a glass pipe in the center console.
Officers said when the man woke up, he immediately tried to cover up the pipe and pot. Officers asked for his ID and inquired about the pipe. He claimed a friend left it in the car.
Police also found a bag with crystal powder inside and read the man his rights. He admitted that the meth was his, but told officers he didn’t want to go to prison.
He told officers he’d just relapsed back onto drugs, broken up with his girlfriend, lost his job, and was now homeless.
Officers reminded him that places are hiring every day and that instead of feeling sorry for himself, he should get out there and apply for work. Police searched the vehicle but found nothing else unusual.
They impounded the crystal substance and gave the man a warning.
