What started as a property dispute between neighbors has now escalated into something far more serious — involving stolen cameras, a shooting, and an arrest.
And this wasn’t the first time deputies had been called.
According to a report from the Lawrence County Sheriff’s Office, deputies were first dispatched to a residence on Township Road for a complaint involving a stolen security camera and a possible violation of a protection order.
The callers told deputies their neighbor had come onto their property and taken another camera — the third incident in about a week. They provided a statement and video footage that appeared to show the neighbor removing the device.
Deputies attempted to make contact next door but were unable to locate anyone at the time.
Hours Later… A Much More Serious Call
Later, deputies were sent to the neighboring residence for a report of a self-inflicted gunshot wound.
When they arrived, EMS was already treating a woman who had been shot in the arm. The firearm involved had been moved away for safety.
Deputies secured the weapon — a .22 caliber rifle — and collected evidence from the scene.
During the investigation, deputies also encountered another woman at the residence who was found to have an active warrant. When deputies attempted to take her into custody, she resisted and had to be physically restrained before being placed in handcuffs.
While being detained, she told responders she had another firearm hidden in her clothing. A revolver and additional ammunition were recovered.
Authorities noted that both individuals at the residence were prohibited from possessing firearms due to an active protection order tied to the neighboring dispute.
The injured woman was transported for medical treatment.
The other woman was taken to jail.
A Pattern That Keeps Escalating
This latest incident is just one in a string of calls involving the same neighbors.

- Disputes over property lines

- Repeated law enforcement responses
A protection order had already been put in place — but according to reports, the conflict has continued.
