Woman Overdoses in 8th Street Alley
Just before 4:30 am, police responded to a report that a woman had overdosed in a van parked in an alley behind 8th Street.
Portsmouth Fire Department medics treated the woman. Police noted the keys were not in the ignition, so they allowed the woman to go with a sober party who agreed to look after the woman and the vehicle.
Parolee ODs on 17th Street Porch
A parolee with a long history of arrests landed back in the Scioto County Jail for the 15th time after a caller reported someone had overdosed on the porch of PMHA Apartment on 17th Street.
When officers arrived at the scene, they took the man into custody and charged him with criminal trespass, possessing drug abuse instruments, obstructing official business, and parole violation.
The man was released on parole in June of 2021 and has been arrested 5 times for parole violation since that date.
Police booked him into the Scioto County Jail.
High Man Jumps on Car Hood
Officers responded to Cottonwood Avenue after a report of an apparently high man jumping up and down on the hood of a car.
When an officer arrived on the scene, they discovered the man had injured his foot and was running a fever and requested a rescue squad. It took three tries by dispatch to find an available ambulance.
The man requested medical treatment for a fever, broken leg, and a sore on his foot. He said the only drug he’d used was marijuana but officers suspected possible meth abuse.
The vehicle owner declined to press charges, and officers released the man to the ambulance.
High at the Dollar General
Deputies responded to the Dollar General on Galena Pike after witnesses said there was an apparently high woman in the store with a child.
Police spoke to the woman and gave her and the child a ride to Custus Street.
