What initially appeared to be a routine two-vehicle crash quickly turned into a felony investigation after a witness told Portsmouth police one driver had intentionally tried to run someone over before the collision.
Officers were dispatched to the intersection of Grant Street and Franklin Avenue for a reported traffic crash involving two vehicles.
🚨 “HE TRIED TO RUN HIM OVER”
When officers arrived, a witness gave investigators a much different version of events than a typical accident.
According to the report, a woman told police that one of the drivers had intentionally tried to run over her child’s father before fleeing the scene.
Police immediately began searching for the suspect vehicle.
🚔 SUSPECT LOCATED MINUTES LATER
Officers quickly caught up with the driver a short time later.
Police took Devin Kritzwiser into custody and arranged for the involved vehicles to be towed from the scene.
⚖️ FELONY CHARGES FILED
Kritzwiser was booked into the Scioto County Jail on charges of:
- Felonious Assault
- Assault
Police also cited him for several traffic-related offenses, including:
- Driving Without a License
- Driving Left of Center
- Expired Registration Plates
The felonious assault charge suggests investigators believe the vehicle may have been used as a weapon during the incident.
👀 ALREADY ON PAROLE
Court records indicate Kritzwiser was already on parole at the time of the arrest.
Records show he is currently under supervision following convictions related to domestic violence and retaliation.
