A man on parole for burglary and theft found himself back behind bars after crashing into a fire hydrant at 8th and Young Streets just after midnight.
The crash broke the water pipe, and City Service had to respond at 1 am to get it under control.
Police said they found a liquor bottle near the crashed vehicle and took the driver, 46-year-old Timothy Evans, into custody for driving under the influence, driving without a license, falsification, and willful or wanton operation of a vehicle.

This was at least his 31st trip to the Scioto County Jail. Previous charges include burglary, breaking and entering, theft, probation violation, receiving stolen property, tampering with evidence, possession of criminal tools, obstructing official business, criminal trespass, petty theft, felonious assault, and driving with a loud exhaust.
