On Thursday, April 24, Scioto County Sheriff’s Office (SCSO) deputies and EMS teams responded to 63 separate calls for service. These ranged from medical emergencies and traffic violations to criminal activity and alarm drops across the county.
While the Sheriff’s Office stopped providing detailed call narratives to the press earlier this year, Scioto County Daily News remains committed to public transparency. We’ll break down what we can tell you based on available records.
🔥 Medical and Emergency Squad Calls Dominate the Day
Emergency medical services were the most common type of call. A total of 17 emergency squad dispatches (Code 29) were logged throughout the day. These calls included:
- Multiple incidents on Ohio River Road in Wheelersburg and surrounding areas.
- Transports from locations like Kroger Wheelersburg, Sandhill Church, 92 Riverview Ave, and 486 Hammerstein Rd.
- Some calls ended with no transport after on-site evaluation.
There were also two accidents with no injuries, at Kings Daughter’s Family Care Center and the intersection of State Route 335 and Aaron Road.
🚨 Criminal and Suspicious Activity
Here’s what we know about criminal-related calls:
- Suspicious Persons (Code 60): 5 calls, including one that resulted in an arrest on Center Street.
- Domestic Complaints (Code 20): 1 incident at Cherry Street.
- Thefts (Code 36): 2 calls – one on Northwood Ave and another on Walburn Ave.
- Stolen Vehicle (Code 56): 1 report at Kentucky Farmers Bank.
- Threats/Harassment (Code 72): 1 incident at Dr. Turjoman’s office on Ohio River Road.
- Misdemeanor Warrant (Code 15M): 1 arrest on Cole Ave.
- Juvenile Complaint (Code 34): 1 incident on Central Ave.
- Civil Process with Arrests (Code 15): At least 2 arrests during warrant service operations.
🔍 Investigation & Reports
- Investigate Complaint (Signal 09): 10 calls.
- Reports Taken (Signal 47): At least 3.
- Dead on Arrival (Code 16): 1 tragic case reported on Hayport Road.
- Fight (Code 26): 1 disturbance reported on June Ave.
🚗 Traffic and Vehicle Issues
- Traffic Offenses (Code 86): 3 stops, all resulting in warnings.
- Disabled Vehicles (Code 82): 2 logged.
- Traffic Jam/Road Blocked (Code 80): 1 report on Slab Run Road.
🔔 False Alarms and Cancelled Calls
Alarm drops (Code 78) made up a large chunk of false alarms, with at least 6 calls later deemed non-emergent. Several other calls were either cancelled or unfounded.
📍 Where It Happened
The majority of calls came from:
- Wheelersburg and Ohio River Road corridor
- Rural addresses like Furnace Creek Rd, Rigrish Rd, and Gallia Pike
- Public spaces including churches, therapy centers, grocery stores, and group homes
