We always like to hear good news about our beloved City. After all, we do hold World Records and have been chosen as an All-American City. We have a rich history in sports, industry, entertainment, and our amazing natural resources.
While researching data for another article, an amazing statistic came to light.
Portsmouth Ohio is number one in the state for Walmart deliveries.
This chart shows the hot spots for consumer deliveries in Ohio comparing Amazon and Walmart throughout the state. As you can see, Portsmouth is at the top of the list for Walmart delivery consumers. Our friends in Hanging Rock (don’t speed there) also ranked in the top five.
These interesting statistics tell us a few things.
Delivery methods that had been offered in larger metropolitan areas have now been extended to us. We have found ourselves eagerly enjoying the luxury of Doorstep Delivery. Companies like DoorDash have also made a large impact in solidifying our desire to click and receive.
Next, in this post-pandemic economy, workers have found a way to provide for their families and earn an honest income. For many, the flexibility offered by these delivery companies is quite appealing. Some of those drivers have told us they will never return to the traditional workforce and that they feel more satisfaction working independently without a hierarchy of management breathing down their necks.
Finally, this can serve as a proof of concept for entrepreneurs who wish to fill a void that is still left in this market. That void includes items that consumers wish to purchase from other stores like Dollar Tree, their favorite “Mom and Pop” boutique, or items from a nearby convenient mart.
The market is not saturated. Just the opposite. It’s ripe for the picking.
The consumers have spoken. There is a demand and it’s time to increase the supply.
Portsmouth Ohio has proven itself to be number one, proudly, and those interested in true Economic Development should embrace the opportunity afforded by this amazing statistical data.
