Angry residents with guns kept Portsmouth Police Officers busy on Thursday. One had to be hauled out of the BMV and another put up such a fight they couldn’t even take his fingerprints.  We’ve got the scoop on that and a strange case of someone throwing rocks at children. Check out these seven slides for the highlights. If you want the full, unfiltered story of what went down and who was involved, become an SCDN VIP member.  Click here to learn how it works.

Cast the First Stone

  • Officers were called to Mabert Road not too long after midnight for a report of a man throwing rocks at his child.
  • Police called the answering service for CPS and headed to the scene. It turned out that a third-party and not the dad had made the kids feel unsafe.
  • Police advised the father to make the third-party leave and to call them back if there were any more issues.
  • The person causing the problem returned around 3 am in the morning. However, they were gone again by the time police arrived.

That’s My Stuff

  • At 1:15 am, police answered a shoplifting call at the BP on Gallia. The clerk reported the man had left and headed in the direction of McDonald’s. Officers caught up with the guy 10 minutes later on Mabert Road. They drove him back to the BP to return the items. A trespass warning was issued.
  • CVS on the Scioto Trail reported that a woman stole a tote bag full of stuff from the store and took just before 1 pm. Police took information for a report.

Angry and Armed at the BMV

  • Police responded to the BMV on 11th Street after a hold-up alarm went off.
  • It turned out to be an irate customer.
  • The woman was in such a bad mood, she was taken into custody for resisting. According to the report she had a gun on her.
  • Nina Book was charged with criminal trespass, assault, resisting arrest, and carrying a concealed weapon.
  • She was booked into the Scioto County Jail.

Angry Neighbor

  • Officers were called to Wilson Avenue at 3:30 pm for a report of an angry neighbor who won’t quit yelling at kids and the dog.
  • The resident said her neighbor doesn’t like her dog and yells at the dog and the kids every time they’re out in the yard.
  • The yard is completely fenced in and the dog has never escaped.
  • Further, she said he curses in front of the kids. Police said if he does that again, to call them. They can charge him disorderly conduct.
