Matthew “Matt” Seifert is currently the democratic candidate running for County Commissioner against the Republican incumbent, Mike Crabtree. Just a few days before the election, SCDN was able to speak to Seifert regarding a few different issues related to the County Commissioner race.
When asked about his educational history, Matt explained that he actually attended university in Atlanta before attending law school and then moving to Portsmouth. He feels that the fact that he didn’t grow up in Scioto County gives him a unique perspective on the area and what can be done to improve Scioto County in the future.
The main platform Seifert is basing his campaign on is the idea of transparency and accountability. He believes that many public officials in Scioto County are not open enough with the public about what they’re working on at any given time.
The ability to campaign during the COVID-19 has been severely limited for all candidates, but one of the unique ways Seifert has been campaigning during this election cycle has been his Facebook live streams, “Chat with Matt”. During these videos, he is given questions by Scioto County residents and he tries his best to answer as openly and honestly as possible.
Matt is extremely honored to have been given the opportunity to campaign in the first place, and he is very grateful for all of the wonderful people he has been able to meet during his campaign. On November 3rd, it will be determined whether or not Mike Crabtree enters another term as Commissioner, or if he is replaced by Matt Seifert.
This interview was not paid for by the candidate. Nor, was the candidate compensated for participating in the interview.
