A gas station parking lot became the scene of a life-saving intervention when a woman showed deputies a text message that revealed a man’s intention to take his own life.
It unfolded around 4:45 p.m., at a Franklin Furnace gas station, where the woman flagged down deputies after receiving the alarming message from a male acquaintance. She told officers he was in crisis and nearby.
Deputies located the man at the scene. According to the incident log maintained by the Scioto County Sheriff’s Department, they immediately called for EMS. He was transported to Southern Ohio Medical Center, where he was held under medical observation.
This was treated strictly as a mental health emergency, and no criminal activity was alleged.
