Wilma Baer Hieneman, 87, passed away peacefully on December 8, 2025, at the SOMC Inpatient Hospice Center, with family by her side. She was born April 26, 1938, in Scioto Furnace, the daughter of the late Oscar and Ruby (Townsend) Baer.
Wilma leaves behind her husband of 56 years, Paul Leslie Hieneman; two daughters, Leslie (Brad) Johnson and Lisa (Matthew) Thompson; grandchildren Megan Johnson and fiancé Jacob Jewell , Paul Bricker Johnson, J.T. Thompson and Maribeth (Cameron) Gifford, along with her great- grandchildren Brantley and Xavier Johnson and Aiden and Easton Gifford.
She was preceded in death by brothers Robert (Jenny) Baer and infant Samuel Baer.
Wilma worked at various places in her life but caring for children was at the top of her list. She cared for several throughout her life and still considered them her own. Wilma loved to cook for her family, and you would never come to her house without her offering to cook or have a dessert.
She was raised at Bloom Free Will Baptist Church, where she taught Sunday school for years and played the piano until she moved to Kentucky when she got married. Wilma was a devout Christian and her light shown throughout her life to others with music and song. She will be terribly missed by all but without a doubt, we know she was welcomed to heaven, and we have the hope to see her again through Christ.
Funeral Service will be Saturday, December 13, 2025, 2:00 PM at Bloom Free Will Baptist Church, with Pastors Roger Lavender and Alan Harner officiating. Visitation will be 12:00 NOON- 2:00 PM at the church prior to the service. Interment to follow at South Webster Cemetery.
