A woman said her neighbor shot her dog after it ran loose on their property and a deputy looks out for some sleeping homeowners. We break down the daily briefing from the Scioto County Sheriff’s Office.
West Side Fight
Just after 1 am, deputies responded to a report of nine men fighting in a church parking lot.
However, by the time officers arrived, the men had already left the scene.
Elderly Man in a Ditch
A woman contacted officers at 1:03 am to say she spotted an elderly man in a ditch on St. Rt. 348. She said she would have stopped, but she had children in the car.
On her way back, the man was on his knees at the end of a driveway. She asked deputies to check on his welfare. He left the area before officers arrived.
Suspicious Activity
A caller reported a vehicle pulled to the side of Mill Road with someone passed out inside at 2 am. Deputies discovered the woman was homeless and was just taking a nap.
Officers responded to the Old Scioto Trail at 7 pm for a report of a woman slumped over in a gold car at the Giovanni’s in Rosemount. Officers could not find a vehicle matching that description.
Deputy Looks Out For Homeowners
A deputy transporting a prisoner spotted a possible issue at a home on St. Rt. 73 around 4:33 am. The door to the home was wide and moving in the breeze.
Other deputies went to the home and found the door wide open. They announced themselves, but no one came to the door.
Officers decided to enter the home to make sure everyone was okay. They found a man and woman asleep in the home who just hadn’t heard them.
Dog Reported Shot By Neighbor
A woman contacted the SCSO just before noon to say her son just called her and said their neighbor shot their dog.
She said the dog was loose and on the neighbors’ property. A family friend picked up the dog.
