We’ve got the 4 best Kindle Unlimited books to read this Halloween. And don’t worry, even if you don’t have Kindle Unlimited, you can purchase these delightfully spooky treats and read them on your eReader, phone, tablet, or computer. Kindle Unlimited is a subscription service offered by Amazon that lets you read …. well…. an unlimited number of eBooks from their library. If you aren’t familiar with the service, you’re probably asking, “How much does Kindle Unlimited cost?” It’s $9.99 a month, which is a pretty good deal if you read a whole lot. There are over 1 million titles available, so it’s sometimes hard to decide what to read.
Don’t worry, we’ve got some great suggestions that are perfect for Halloween or any time of the year. All of these books fall into the hottest new genre out there: Paranormal Women’s Fiction. The PWF group on Goodreads described the genre as “Books with Kick-ass Heroines who have a bit of experience with life and walks on the wild side of Magic.”
Let’s check out some suggestions.
Resting Witch Face – Widow’s Bay Book 1
Resting Witch Face, the first entry in the 7-book Widow’s Bay series written by former news anchor Rebecca Regnier. The main character, Marzie Nowak, is a news anchor who loses her job after an on-air meltdown. With a cheating husband and an empty nest, she heads back to her slightly spooky hometown of Widow’s Bay, Michigan. Not only does Marzie find a mystery to solve, but she discovers she also has magical powers.
Regnier said she got the idea for the series from the Harry Potter books. “Why is it only magical children get to have all the fun? If there is magic it comes from life experience, and growing into your true self! So I thought what if, instead of Hagrid scooping you up when your 11, there was a group of magical women that only come to their full power when they have empty nests?”
The books combine magic, mystery, romance, and the occasional hot flash. I have to admit, the titles are part of the draw for me: Coven Mitt, Late Broomers, and Wands Have More Fun to name a few.

Perfect Pending – Witches of Gales Haven Book 1
Perfect Pending (again another great title) is the first book in the 4 book Witches of Gales Haven series by Lucia Ashta If you love snarky humor, this is the book for you. Meet Marla, a sarcastic, frizzy-haired redhead who also happens to be a witch. Now, you can’t judge a book by its cover, but the vibrant covers of this series give you a pretty good idea of what’s inside.
Recently divorced, sarcastic redhead Marla heads back to her hometown with her two kids in tow. This may sound a lot like the beginning of the classic TV show One Day at a Time, but Marla also happens to be a witch from a long line of powerful witches. It’s a little like Bewitched meets One Day at a Time.
Marla soon finds herself dealing with an old boyfriend, two troublesome teenagers, and mother-in-law problems, all with a magical twist. This series is earthy, funny, and thoroughly enjoyable.

A Murder of Orkneys – Camelot West Virginia Series
This novella is the fourth of the 4 books in the Camelot West Virginia series by Cyn Mackley. A Murder of Orkneys takes place in Appalachia on the days surrounding Halloween 1989. It’s a little less overtly magical than the other books featured here. The heroine hasn’t quite uncovered her powers and thinks the fact that a flock of crows follows her commands is just a happy coincidence.
Heroine Suzy is barely out of her teens, pregnant, and on the run with a bag of money that belongs to some very bad men. Her baby’s father doesn’t know he’s about to become a daddy. But he sure knows he’s in big trouble. An old enemy has vanished. Now, both the cops and the crooks call him the prime suspect.
The star-crossed lovers have broken lives, fractured hearts, and no clue death is stalking them. But someone, or something, is watching from the shadows. And messing with Orkneys, dead or alive, is never a good idea. This book gives a real feel for the season and for Appalachian culture.
Magic Uncorked – Midnight Magic Cocktail Club Book 1
There is more than one type of spirit at play in the Midnight Magic Cocktail Club series. In Magic Uncorked, heroine Libbie Stark seems to have a pretty ordinary life with annoying exes and troublesome teens until a friend dies. Then Libby and the members of her weekly cocktail club discover they’ve inherited her magic.
Unlike other series, where each book focuses on the same protagonist, each of the three books in the series follows a different character as she comes to terms with her magical powers and deals with real-life problems that will probably seem all-too-familiar to readers.
These uplifting and empowering books highlight the power of sisterhood, friendship, and self-discovery.
And, in my humble opinion, those are the 4 best books to read on Kindle Unlimited this Halloween.
